MP on the oche with Luke the Nuke to raise awareness of prostate cancer

Bridlington and the Wolds MP Charlie Dewhirst joined professional players, fellow parliamentarians, and campaigners at the annual Westminster Darts Championship.

The event, organised by Prostate Cancer UK in partnership with Paddy Power, brought together MPs and peers to help raise awareness of prostate cancer and encourage men across Britain to check if they are at risk.

The championship hosted in Parliament featured two very special guests – the world number one and number two darts players: Luke Littler and Luke Humphries.

Attendees had the chance to test their aim alongside the sport’s top talent.

Mr Dewhirst said: “I want to give a huge thank you to Prostate Cancer UK and Paddy Power for a great evening at the Westminster Darts Championship. It was good fun to throw some arrows with the top two players in the world.

"Luke the Nuke and I even held the joint lead for a while!

"It’s all to raise awareness and money for a very important cause, and I encourage everyone, especially men, to visit Prostate Cancer UK’s website to check their risk today.”

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, and early detection remains vital.

Prostate Cancer UK is urging men – particularly those over 50, Black men over 45, and anyone with a family history of the disease – to use their online risk checker and speak to their GP if concerned.
