Remembrance Day in Bridlington - here is what is happening this year

Last year's Remembrance Service in Bridlington.

Details of how Bridlington will be marking the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice have been announced.

Commemorations will begin at 6am on November 11, when lone piper Dave Leeman will perform The Battles O'er at the war memorial.

The same tribute will be played at more than 1,000 locations around the UK at that time, as the guns fell silent for the end of World War One at 6am on November 11, 1918.

Our Poppy campaign has already raised Â£7,000 for the Royal British Legion.

The main Remembrance service will take place at 10.55am at the memorial, at the junction of Prospect Street and Wellington Road.

Led by the Rev Matthew Pollard, it will feature Bridlington Excelsior Band, Bridlington Pipe Band and the 252 Squadron (ATC) Corps of Drums).

At 6pm, there will be a service to remember the fallen from WW1 at Bridlington Priory.

Last week, 200 poppies were put on display around the war memorial gardens

Afterwards, a beacon will be lit at the west doors of the church, by the mayor and mayor's cadet.

At 7.05pm, the Priory bells will ring out to mark the end of the day's commemorations.

Parking will be free in all East Riding of Yorkshire Council car parks on Sunday, November 11.
