A windsurfer who fell ill while out at sea had to be rescued.

Bridlington's inshore lifeboat was called out at 1.44pm on Sunday to help the man who was clinging on to his board off the coast at Wilsthorpe.

He was one of several board sailors in the area and it was a fellow windsurfer who raised the alarm and stayed alongside him until the lifeboat team arrived.

The man was lifted into the inshore boat and taken back to shore.

There, the coastguard took over care of the man and the lifeboat crew returned to collect the man's board.
