Sarah West: What we know so far about missing Scarborough woman
Sarah West, 46, was reported missing from her Scarborough home on April 25.
An urgent appeal was launched by North Yorkshire Police on Monday, April 26 after Sarah had not been seen since about 10am on Sunday, April 25 at her home on Stepney Avenue.
Ms West is described as very slim with dark blonde medium-length hair, blue eyes, wears glasses, and pale skin. She is around 5ft 5″ tall and is believed to be wearing a light coloured blouse top, jeans and brown boots.
It was revealed on April 27 that Sarah was last seen by her family at around 7am on April 25 and new information showed she was walking southbound on the A165 near Cayton Bay around 8am the same day.
At this point North Yorkshire Police appealed for anyone driving on the A165 between Scarborough and Reighton on Sunday from 7.30am to 2pm who may have dashcam footage to get in touch by calling 101.
The Coastguard has been assisting North Yorkshire Police with searches and it is believed Sarah may have been walking the Cleveland Way path so police are asking walkers and anyone in the area to be vigilant and report any possible sightings immediately.
On Wednesday Sarah's mother, Valerie and sister, Rebecca released an emotional plea for her to come home.
“Sarah, please come home. We love you and we are here for you no matter what.
“We know you are worried about your health and our health and we just want you to come home so we can support you. Together we’ll find the right treatment and the right people to help you and we will be by your side throughout it all.
“There are so many people who love you and care about you.
“We are all praying for you to come home, that’s all we want and we will be here waiting.”
Valerie and Rebecca would like to thank everyone involved in the searches to find Sarah and to everyone who has helped spread news of her missing appeal through their networks and channels.
They said: “Please keep vigilant for any sightings of Sarah and help us to bring her home safe. We are so grateful for the support of everyone who is helping to find her.”
Sarah was last seen walking towards Filey on the A165 near Cayton Bay on Sunday morning around 8am, April 25.
Her whereabouts is still unknown at this time.
Yesterday North Yorkshire Police released a new CCTV image of Sarah taken the day before she went missing.
Sarah is shown wearing jeans, brown flat boots and a light coloured blouse. She is carrying a red bag. Police believe she was dressed similarly on Sunday morning when she was last seen.
North Yorkshire Police Inspector Graeme Kynman said: “We are concentrating our searches on the Filey and Reighton areas of the east coast, particularly towards the coastline and the Cleveland Way footpath and would ask anyone out and about in these areas to be vigilant for Sarah.
“We have recently obtained a CCTV image which shows Sarah on Saturday, the day before she went missing.
"In the CCTV Sarah is wearing an outfit similar to what we believe she was wearing on Sunday so we hope this might help to jog the memories of those who may have seen her at any point in the last few days.
“We’d like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who has been looking for Sarah and sharing our appeals to find her. This support is invaluable in making sure as many people as possible know that she is missing and can stay vigilant for any sightings.
“If anyone has information about Sarah please call 101 or if it is an immediate sighting, call 999.”
