Seal pup attacked as member of public kicks animal and sets dogs on it in Whitby

A seal pup was rescued yesterday after reports it was attacked by a member of the public.

The British Divers Marine Life Rescue came to the seal's aid yesterday.

The charity say their Whitby medic was called out after reports of a member of the public kicking the seal and setting his dogs on to it near the pier.

The medic checked the seal over and safely released it at a quieter location.

The BDMLR have a network of medics stationed around the country to provide help to aquatic animals.
