Saint Catherine's Hospice is appealing for volunteers in the Filey area to help with the smooth running of the popular Starlight Walk.

The hospice is currently making the final preparations to “Light up the Night” throughout the 6.5 mile route around the North and South Bays of the Scarborough coast.

St Catherine’s provides in and out-patient care, neurology support, bereavement support and day care for patients across a 1,600 square mile area that includes Filey and Hunmanby.

The Starlight Walk will take place on Saturday 10 September and the charity is seeking “Starlight Angels” to help marshal the route from 10pm.

The event is expected to attract hundreds of brightly dressed supporters to walk under the starlit sky and raise vital funds for patient care at the hospice.

A spokesman for St Catherine’s said: “Last year, this key event raised a total of £46,000 which went directly to patient care to support the many patients and families who needed our services.

“We would be delighted to hear from potential volunteers. Please contact us in fundraising department on 01723 378406 for more details.”
