Highways England say westbound traffic is being diverted and motorists should exit at the A1237 and follow yellow diamond symbol diversion route along the road north of York to rejoin the A64.

Traffic delays remain in the area with Highways England reporting approximately 2.5 miles of congestion on approach and saying the diversion route is slow moving.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead.
