Everything you need to know about the new train timetable which comes into effect on Sunday

Thirty-two new five-carriage trains on services between Scarborough and Liverpool are to be introduced in conjunction with the new December timetable.

TransPennine Express’ long-awaited Nova 3 trains will be rolled out from Sunday December 15, providing an increase in the number of seats available.

As part of the changes, which will be in place until Saturday May 16 2020, trains from Scarborough to Liverpool will depart at 34 minutes past the hour with the first service leaving at 5.34am Monday to Saturday.

On Sundays, trains will depart at 32 minutes past the hour, with the first train leaving at 8.35am.

The last two TransPennine Express services leaving Scarborough at night will be the 22.15 to York and 22.45 to Manchester Piccadilly. On Sundays these will be the 21.32 to Manchester Airport and 22.42 to Manchester Piccadilly.

As for Northern, the Sheffield to Bridlington fast services will be extended from and to Scarborough. Services between York and Hull and Hull and Bridlington will be joined, to provide a through York to Bridlington service.

From Monday December 16, there will also be two new services a day in each direction between Middlesbrough and Whitby.
