Tidal surge passes without incident
The early morning tidal surge passed without incident in Scarborough and Whitby.
Gale force winds did not arrive early enough to push the water into the roads around Scarborough South Bay and the Esk at Whitby.
Attention now turns to this evening's high tide at around 4pm.
Snow also began to fall around the borough as the surge passed.
