Almost £35,000 to be spent on urgent road repairs in Scarborough and Whitby

North Yorkshire County Council has added the schemes to its Highways Capital Programme for the rest of the financial year.

The money for the works was approved by the county’s Business and Environmental Services Corporate Director and Executive Members meeting when it met on Friday last week.

The works include £10,000 to repair a void in Queen Street in Scarborough, which was described in a report to the meeting as needing “immediate treatment”.

The county will also spend £9,500 to repair a landslip which has caused a path to fall away at a steep back at Fairhead in Grosmont near Whitby.

The largest scheme will cost an estimated £14,000 to fix an issue in Littlebeck Lane, Whitby.

The report to Friday’s meeting added: “The existing drainage scheme not is suitable, causing flooding on the steep bank and damage to the highway.”

The works were agreed and have been added to the work programme.
