Bus company East Yorkshire has announced changes to its summer Coaster timetable with more evening journeys to be included.

The fully branded buses will continue to link Bridlington and Scarborough, giving residents and tourists more time to spend in the two towns.

The extra journeys will depart from Bridlington at 8pm, 9pm and 10pm and will serve the holiday camps and villages between the towns from March 7.

The double-decker buses include next-stop announcements, free WI-FI and USB charging facilities on board, as well as comfortable seats with tables upstairs.

East Yorkshire’s Area Director, Ben Gilligan, said the later buses were included to give people more choice with what to do with their evening.

“Bridlington and Scarborough have lots of great restaurants, pubs and bars and it’s important that visitors to our region can enjoy them by public transport," he said.

"These extra journeys are a great option for people working shifts on the holiday camps too.”

The Coaster ticket will also return this summer, which allows unlimited travel between Bridlington and Scarborough.

Families can also save money with a Coaster ticket as one child travels free with each adult. Weekly and monthly tickets are also available.

East Yorkshire buses will also be running their seaside open top bus services once again this summer.

The routes have been colour-coded to make it clear to visitors which bus they need to catch.

The Scarborough seafront 109 service will now be known as Beachcomber Red and the former Scarborough Skipper route will be rebranded as Beachcomber Green.

Bridlington’s open top bus service, which was named as one of the most scenic in the country last year, will be renamed Beachcomber Blue.

Scarborough’s open top bus services run from March 7 to November 1 and Bridlington’s from April 4 to September 27.
