Passengers will be unable to use the last two trains on the Esk Valley Railway from Whitby to Middlesbrough, and vice versa, on Monday December 5, due to engineering works.

Northern has advised that it has been unable to find replacement buses, despite its best efforts to do so, or replacement rail services.

It is issuing a do not travel after 6pm notice.

Northern said: “We apologise for the inconvenience.

"We are arranging for messaging on the CIS screens and PA announcements, and posters will be on display.”
