UPDATE: Police appeal over horse theft

Police are investigating the theft of a horse from a field in Cayton.The Clydesdale cross thoroughbred, called Roscoe, was in the field on Saturday evening between 4pm and 5pm, but was gone when the owner checked on Sunday between 4pm and 5pm.The horse is six years old and has a stripe down his nose.Horsewatch, a crime-fighting network group, is also involved in the investigation, which includes a review of CCTV in the area.The owner said the wire fencing looked to have been cut at the field and the stakes snapped.The horse, which is not normally kept at this location, looks to have been taken out from the bottom end of the field.Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police immediately.
