IN PICTURES: Snow, hail, sunshine ... Scarborough's barmy (but definitely not balmy) April weather

We all know that the great British weather is unpredictable, but Saturday threw up an unusual mix of conditions.

Snow showers and hail in late morning and lunchtime were followed by blue skies and sunshine, with late afternoon/early evening proving especially pleasant. It was hardly a balmy day, with the temperature reaching about 6C. Even so, the donkeys on South Bay beach braved the conditions. At the time of writing, the Met Office forecast for Sunday is for a cloudy start, rain showers, some heavy, in the morning, a mix of sunshine and light showers in the afternoon, and a cloudy evening. Temperatures will go no higher than 4C, according to the forecast.
