June 11 saw the hottest day of the year so far in town with temperatures hitting 23°C.

However whilst the sun is set to continue for a few more days, thunderstorms are forecast to be on their way.

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for the region late in the week.

A yellow warning means there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly; there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services; spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures; there is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads; and there is a slight chance that power cuts could occur.
