Milder and windy Monday, colder again through Tuesday.

Monday (Daytime):

Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, especially across higher ground where there will be hill fog. Some brighter spells are possible in the east, but it will be windy for all, with gales likely over the Pennines. Milder than recently. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Monday (Night):

Wet and windy at first with some heavier rain for a time, perhaps turning wintry over hills as it turns colder. Clearing skies later with frost and ice quickly forming. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Tuesday:

A frosty and icy start on Tuesday, but cold and mostly sunny once cloud across the south clears. Lighter winds although breezier along North Sea coasts. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Frosty start on Wednesday then rain and hill snow later, possibly falling to some lower levels and continuing through Thursday. Drier and brighter Friday. Cold throughout with frost and ice.
