Weather warning: Ice and snow are possible on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, says Met Office

The Met Office has warned that ice and snow may cause disruption on Wednesday evening.

It has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice for Yorkshire and the Humber.

The warning is for a period between 9pm on Wednesday March 11 to 10am on Thursday March 12.

It warns of:

Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services

Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces

Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

It says: "An area of rain will move across parts of southern Scotland and northern England on Wednesday evening, with some snow possible but this mostly above 200m. Surfaces will remain wet from this rain and the showers, with icy stretches expected to form."
