WEATHER WARNING: Storm Brendan heading for the Yorkshire Coast

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning as Storm Brendan brings strong winds to many parts of the UK

The weather warning is in place from 12:00 - 23.59 on Tuesday, January 14, it states:

Strong winds will develop on Tuesday which may bring some disruption.

What to expect

- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely

- Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible

- It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves

Monday January 13 - Friday January 17

Headline:

Persistent rain clearing to showers and gusty winds overnight.

This Evening and Tonight:

As rain clears this evening to drier conditions, winds will remain gusty but less strong than during the day. It will feel cold overnight with a scattering of showers likely, mostly affecting western areas. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Tuesday:

Bright and breezy with well-scattered showers in the west during the morning. Cloud will thicken as more wind and persistent, heavy rain arrives later in the day. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Mostly dry and bright Wednesday and early Thursday with strong winds and isolated showers. Heavy rain likely later on Thursday and perhaps lingering during Friday, but with winds easing.
