Friday, mostly dry, bright. Becoming windy with some rain overnight.

A chilly start, then a mainly dry, bright day with some lengthy spells of sunshine in the east. Cloud will increase during the late afternoon and through the evening, bringing patchy rain to western hills later, with strong winds developing.

Whitby temperature: max 6°C.

North York Moors temperature: max 4°C


Cloudy and windy overnight, with rain becoming more persistent on western hills, but largely dry in the east. Gales likely across the high ground. Turning milder.

Scarborough temperature: min 3°C.

Whitby temperature: min 3°C.

North York Moors temperature: min 3°C


Cloudy and windy, with persistent rain on western hills, becoming heavier later. Drier in the east, but rain here too overnight. Gales continuing across the high ground. Mild. Scarborough temperature: min 6°C - max 10°C

Whitby temperature: min 7°C - max 11°C.

North York Moors temperature: min 5°C - max 10°C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Sunday, bright but rather chilly. Breezy with occasional showers, wintry over hills. Monday, mostly dry, bright. Heavy rain and gales later. Tuesday, mostly dry, bright, perhaps rain and gales later.
