WEATHER: Wintry showers to continue along the Yorkshire Coast

The Met Office has said that wintry showers will continue along the Yorkshire Coast and a yellow weather warning of ice is in place.

The Met Office forecast for Wednesday January 6 to Sunday January 10 is as follows.


Cold with wintry showers continuing. Widespread frost overnight.

Wintry showers are forecast for the Yorkshire Coast

Wednesday January 6 (Day):

A mostly cloudy start with showers continuing to spread in from the North Sea, occasionally wintry, mainly over the western hills. Showers becoming less frequent and lighter in the afternoon, with brighter skies developing though still remaining cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Wednesday January 6 (Evening):

Any remaining showers will die out during the evening, followed by clearer skies but a moderate frost in the north. Remaning mostly cloudy and therefore less cold in the southeast. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

Thursday January 7:

Largely sunny but cold initially. A fragmented band of rain, sleet and snow will move south during the afternoon, icy in places. Some wintry showers along coastal areas later. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Bitterly cold with sunny spells and coastal wintry showers on Friday. Sharp frost and hazy sunshine on Saturday. Less cold on Sunday, dry with variable amounts of cloud.
