Who is Scarborough’s top teacher?

Every year The Scarborough News invites local youngsters to vote for their top teacher.

We want to hear about all those special educators who go the extra mile to make a difference in schools in the Scarborough and Filey area.

The annual Teacher of the Year award aims to highlight the difference that our teachers can make to the lives of their pupils – and find out who is the best of the bunch.

The prize is a trip to the Sea Life Centre for the whole class, and a certificate.

To vote, email [email protected] with the subject line “Teacher of the Year” followed by the name of the school. In the email make sure you include the teacher’s name and a brief paragraph on why they should win, and also your name, age and address (the address won’t be published).

Don’t delay in getting your entries in – deadline for nominations is 10am on Monday June 22.

Last year’s winner was Oliver Barron, whose teaching at St Augustine’s School has had a huge influence on so many pupils over the years.

Several pupils voted for Mr Barron, including Anaina Benny, who said: “He cares about each one of us and puts us before him. He has always been there for us and is the best teacher ever.”
