Why was Scarborough TV signal down?

Many residents were left with no TV this afternoon as disruption to Freeview signal swept across Scarborough.

Many residents contacted The Scarborough News to find out what the reasoning was behind the interruption.

Scarborough resident Margaret White said: "I was looking forward to Escape to the Country before I realised I had no TV signal. I'll have to wait for the repeat now. I am really annoyed now."

It has been confirmed that planned engineering work took place today (October 27) at the Oliver's Mount transmitter.

A Freeview spokesperson said: "TV services from the Oliver’s Mount transmitter were temporarily off-air today due to planned engineering work. Services have now been restored.

"Any readers with questions about Freeview reception can call our advice line on 03456 505050."
