Earlier this month, North Yorkshire Fire Service issued a plea after being called out to a series of small outdoor fires which were started deliberately.

It said some were believed to have been sparked by youngsters and urged parents to make sure they know "what your children are up to".

They said: "You can help keep your families safe by keeping matches and lighters somewhere out of the reach of children, talking to them about fire safety and fitting smoke alarms on every level of your home."
