DJI’s clever Neo mini drone has seen a surprise price drop on Amazon, with big savings on both the standard kit and Fly More bundle
A few years ago, I tested the DJI Neo mini drone. And I remember at the time being bowled over by the price, it just does so much for the money.
But I'm simply staggered at the amount you can buy one for right now. If you can catch a deal on Amazon before February 15, you can bag one for £125 - that's 26% cheaper than the normal £169 price and it's rare to see this popular product discounted at all.
The DJI Neo is aimed at people who have perhaps never flown a drone before, or people who just want something they can whip out of their pocket at any given opportunity.

Unlike conventional drones, it doesn't actually need any sort of controller. You can fly it from an app in your phone, but it's set up to perform a series of preset routines aimed at capturing the perfect footage of you and your surroundings.
Unlike some self-flying drones, however, if you do hook the Neo up to a controller, it can be flown like any other drone. Up, down, left, right, etc. It can fly to a (legal) height of 120 metres and whiz through the air at up to 16 metres per second.
It's fair to say it was one of the best gadgets I tested back when it was launched, and that was when it cost a remarkable £169.99. But the price it's just dropped to on Amazon is frankly ridiculous at £125.

It's important to point out that the £125 price is only for the drone and a battery. It's actually all you need for taking the cleverest selfies on the market, or recording video of yourself traversing a mountain pass, but you won't get a controller at that price. If you operate a drone in the UK, you need to ensure you comply with CAA requirements for registering ownership and ensuring competence to fly.
The Fly More Combo, which bundles in a handheld controller, extra batteries and a charging station has also been discounted, and that's down to £219 from its normal £299. That's definitely worth considering.
Amazon Prime members get free delivery on eligible items. Non-Prime customers may pay delivery charges depending on the order.
