Beckett League: Snainton's impressive run continues

Snainton continued their unbeaten start to their Division Four campaign when they overcame Filey 2nds by 43 runs.

Michael Eyre notched 46 in the league leaders’ total of 166-8 and Filey were dismissed for 123 despite a knock of 42 from Lee Adams.

Michael Kipling was the pick of the Snainton attack, returning figures of 3-20.

A fine bowling effort saw rock-bottom Cloughton 2nds somehow defend a total of just 53 as they registered their first win of 2016 when they beat Lockton.

Andy Sellers took 5-31 and James Webb 3-5 as the visitors were skittled cheaply, but 6-21 from Jacob Codling and 4-25 from Lewis Taylor sent Lockton packing with a total of just 47 to their name.

Cayton 3rds remain in second place in the league standings following a seven-wicket success over Hospitals Rugby Club.

New Zealander Brett Canham top-scored with 48 as Hospitals were all out for 97, Ian Wright taking 3-25 and Matthew Micklethwaite 3-40.

Micklethwaite led the village outfit’s reply with 48no and Nick Hodgson added 37 as the promotion hopefuls eased to 98-3.

Chris Hodgson helped himself to six wickets as Wold Newton 2nds bowled Sherburn 2nds out for just 50 to take a 28-run victory.

Earlier, George Worthy had claimed figures of 4-24 when the Woldsmen struggled to just 78-8.

In Division Five, struggling Ravenscar 2nds recorded just their second win of the campaign when they saw off Forge Valley 3rds.

Ravenscar have struggled with the bat so far this season, but Andy Edgar (39) and John Morrison (30) helped the visitors to a useful total of 173-9.

Valley were always well in the game, but eventually fell just short, being bowled out for 160 as John Nelson returned 4-34.

Tim Farrant (53), Richard Curtis (44) and Dale Tomlinson (39) all impressed with the bat but their efforts evenutally proved in vain.

Richard Horsman was the man in form with the bat for Ganton 2nds once again as his century helped them amass a huge score of 280-4 against Thornton Dale 2nds.

In addition to Horsman’s 139, Dan Reardon struck 62, while Dale’s Luke Dixon did his best to stem the flow with a spell of 2-32.

Andrew Snaith managed a knock of 20 as the hosts replied, but that was as good as it got for them as they were dismissed for 106, Fred Lockwood proving a real menace with 5-23.

Phil Robson’s impressive knock of 91 helped Muston 2nds crush Wykeham 3rds in a one-sided encounter.

Robson led the hosts to 201-8 before the away side collapsed to 45 all out, Oli Brown’s 4-15 helping his team to a 156-run triumph.

Valley Bar Nomads remain top of the pile after a comfortable win against bottom side Scalby 3rds.

Scalby finished on 77-8, largely thanks to Luke Howland hitting 37no, Dave Parkinson bowling impressively and taking 3-19.

Ben Atkinson’s unbeaten 40 allied to 25 from Paul Carline saw the Nomads to 81-2 and an eight-wicket win.
