Mulgrave struggled against some fine bowling from Stu Theaker (3-17), Simon Bowes (3-22) and new signing, ex-Whitby CC paceman Tom Steyert, who claimed 2-18.

Christopher Raine offered some defiance, making his way to a score of 30 but that was as good as it got for the hosts and Staithes wasted little time chasing down their victory target, Stu Pierson striking 44 to see his side home in just 19 overs.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Nawton Grange claimed their second win on the bounce, denying in-form Scalby the chance to move top of the table with a narrow two-wicket victory.

Despite having a small total to defend, the Seals’ attack kept things tight and took wickets at regular intervals, but Grange just about squeezed home in 34 overs, skipper Jonny Pickard (22) the only batsman to make much of an impression.
