From the first bell the tactics of both boxers were very clear, with Nije boxing on the backfoot, constantly moving, as he threw sharp and fast long-range shots. Miah pressed forward behind a high defence as he looked to cut the ring down before looking to unleash heavy combination shots with both hands.

As the round progressed it appeared that it was indeed the strength and determination of the Scarborough boxer that was perhaps the only factor separating the two boxers.

Moving into the second round both maintained a high work-rate in an extremely tight, exciting bout.

Again it looked like Miah's heavier shots and constant pressure was perhaps edging matters, when suddenly a fast, heavy, straight back hand shot from Nije jolted Miah's head back. The referee jumped between the boxers to give a standing eight seconds count over Miah.

Into the third and final round, both looked determined to leave everything in the ring, as blows were exchanged at a furious rate.

As the round progressed, heavy body blows landed by Miah appeared to take effect on the York boxer who began to show signs of tiring.

Unfortunately for Nije, Miah was in no mood to slow down and continued to press forward, throwing a variety of blows to see out the round.

After a nervous wait, the judges decision was finally announced and a unanimous points decision and a place in the county final awarded to Miah.

Consequently, it was a second visit to Bridlington for Miah in the Yorkshire Boxing Associations Development Finals.

Waiting for Miah in the final, was undefeated Lewis Richley from the Ministry of Boxing Club in Leeds.

Heavy blows were immediately exchanged, however, it was Richley who appeared to demonstrate the better skills during the opening session, as he cleverly avoided the heavier punches thrown by his opponent, before countering with his own shots.

Into the second round and with strong words of advice still ringing in his ears from his coach Dean Ingle, Miah looked to use better footwork to cut the ring down before unleashing hurtful combinations.

The pressure applied by Miah and the hurtful body blows landed, appeared to be having the desired effect on Richley, who began to be show signs of slowing down as he struggled to keep a relentless Miah at bay.

It was in the third and final round that it appeared that both boxers needed to win this particular session in order to win the county championship. Yet again it was Miah who was on the front foot, biting down on his gumshield as he managed to find the energy to keep the pressure on the tiring Leeds boxer.

Consequently it was halfway through the round, when yet another vicious attack from Miah resulted in the referee having to step between both fighters in order to give a standing eight count over a frustrated Richley, who refused to give in and saw matters out to a much-needed final bell.

With the scorecards collected, the MC announced the winner before the referee raised a jubilant Miah's hand, as he was awarded his first Yorkshire championship.
