Armstrong and Hammond star as Scarborough CC crush visitors Seamer
Callum Armstrong’s excellent 80 not out from 63 balls steered Scarborough to a quick eight-wicket home win against Seamer in the YPLN Championship East on Saturday.
The visitors won the toss and batted first, lurching to 43-3 thanks to fine bowling from Dan O’Connor (3-46) and Dan Outhart (2-40) but then a sturdy fourth-wicket stand of 69 between Pierz Bradi Cyster and Tom Greenwood (21 in 51 balls) brought the villagers back into contention.

Overseas star Cyster was eventually dismissed for 70 from 75 balls, smacking 12 fours and a couple of sixes, as the visitors slipped from 112-3 to 171 all out, spinner Archie Hammond finishing with an excellent 4-28 in 10.1 overs as Scarborough claimed the upper hand by the tea interval, no other Seamer player reaching double figures apart from Cyster and Greenwood.
Armstrong and fellow opener Ben Squires then smashed 89 runs for the first wicket, the latter falling for 45 from 48 balls, including two sixes and four fours, then Armstrong and Dan Artley built a second-wicket stand of 79 until Artley’s dismissal for 34 off just 21 deliveries.

Armstrong finished the job with his sparkling 80 as Scarborough won with 172-2 in just 22 overs.
Folkton & Flixton recorded a comfortable 125-run home win against local rivals Scalby.
Flixton captain Harry Walmsley won the toss and had little hesitation in batting first.
Openers Will Hutchinson (50) and Charlie Colley (24) put on 70 for the first wicket before Harry Walmsley (47) carried on the momentum.
Jack Walmsley (19) Connor Stephenson (19) and Rob Middlewood (18) took the innings total to 228 all out in 49.2 overs.
Lachlan Cooke took 3-44 with Gregor Fraser and Paul Hesp taking two wickets apiece.
The Scalby reply never got into full swing.
Dave Morris top-scored with 21 before a stunning direct throw by Hutchinson saw him run out.
Tight bowling by in-form Marley Ward (4-23) and Rob Middlewood (3-10) aligned with superb fielding, Jack Walmsley’s three catches left Scalby on 103 all out in 39 overs.
Opener Ali Sabir hit another ton as Wykeham earned a 24-run triumph at Beverley Town 2nds.
Sabir continued his strong start to the season hitting a brilliant 107 from 92 deliveries, including 13 fours and a six, his second ton in as many league matches.
Sabir shared an excellent third-wicket partnership of 147 with Ryan Souter, who also hit top form with the bat, falling frustratingly one run short of his ton on 99 not out in 112 balls, including eight fours and a six, as Wykeham amassed an impressive 320-5.
Souter and Harry Amstell smashed the Town bowlers to all parts of the ground as they racked up a rapid 65 for the fifth wicket, Amstell bashing 48 from just 27 deliveries, including one six and seven fours.
Town were restricted to 296-8 in reply.
