League secretary Simon Dobson said: “With so much to play for on this last weekend, this scenario is a fantastic advert for the league.

“Staithes and Staxton were both expected to challenge this summer and facing each other with the title at stake is a superb way to finish of the league programme.

“The renaissance of Cayton, who last won the title in 1999 shows the Premier Division to be in excellent health and indicates that clubs can progress and challenge for honours when showing enthusiasm and a high quality of play.

“The added pressure of the bonus points system gives all three teams the chance to achieve glory and all clubs are fully aware if they are tied on points, the league has rulings to determine the championship.

“All three teams have played some outstanding cricket at varying times and I suspect it will be who gets it right on the day. I just hope for a good weather and great cricket on display.”
