Cloughton win Hospital Bowl final

Cloughton won the Hospital Bowl final at North Marine Road, defeating Staxton B by seven runs.

Chris Malthouse was the pick of the Cloughton batsmen as they posted 119-8, scoring 29, with Ryan Hargreaves taking 3-14 for the Staxton second string.

Cloughton soon had Staxton struggling on 21-5 thanks to top bowling from John King, 3-26, and Callum Ferrie, 2-23, but Liam Scott and Mark Dove put 53 on for the sixth wicket to give them hope.

Despite smacking a superb 68 Scott ended up on the losing side as his team finished on 112-9, as Cloughton grabbed the glory.

The Hospital Cup final will be played at the same venue on Friday July 31, 6pm start, with Malton & Old Malton taking on Staxton’s first team.
