DERWENT VALLEY LEAGUE: Kelly sparkles in Hospitals win

Mark Kelly took an outstanding six wickets for only eight runs from just six overs as Hospitals romped to an 80-run win at home to Nawton Grange 2nds.

Marcus Edwards also claimed 4-13 as Grange were skittled for 31 runs in reply to the hosts’ 111 all out, Rory Talling having stood out for Nawton.

Sixty-year-old John Sowden continued his superb season with 3-6 from eight overs as Flixton 3rds grabbed pole position thanks to an eight-wicket ein at Lockton.

Pete Hill also took 4-14 as Lockton were rattled out for just 51, Jon Moxon top scoring with 23.

Darren Ellis, 23, helped Flixton to victory.

Filey 2nds were dismissed for just 29 runs at Wold Newton 2nds, Gordon Taylor bagging 4-9 and Chris Hodgson 4-18.

Snainton remain firm favourites to win division B after earning a 53-run win at home to proomtion rivals Muston 2nds.

It was a great all-round team effort by the hosts, who batted first and made 201-7 thanks to 50 from Mike Eyre, as well as sold knocks from Leigh Watson, 32, Paul Nicholson, 31, Carl Wilson 35, and Michael Kipling, 25.

Watson then took 4-40 as Muston were dismissed for 148 despite fine knocks from Keiran Gould, 62, and Mark Precious, 29.

Cayton 3rds remain at the head of the chasing pack after hammering second-from-bottom Ravenscar 2nds by 145 runs.

Darren Jones hit 39 and Johnny Best 22 as the hosts wewre all out for 165, Jon Stokoe scooping 4-32, with son Luke also claiming 2-35 and John Nelson 2-30.

The visitors were then rolled over for just 20 runs, Shaqil Iqbal taking 5-6, Jones 2-4 and Chris Pearson 2-7.

Ganton 2nds opener Ant Allison carried his bat for a superb 94 as his team crushed hosts Thornton Dale 2nds by 126 runs.

Jake Sarup added a tidy 29 and Tom Snowden snatched 4-35 as Ganton were all out for 164.

Dan Reardon then took four wickets for three runs from his five overs and Sarup 3-23 as Dale were all out for 38.

Valley Bar Nomads remain in the hunt for promotion after a 120-run home success against basement team Scalby 3rds.

Anosh George struck 46 and Craig Best 40 as Nomads were dismissed for 190, Carl Marton taking 3-33.

Despite a plucky unbeaten 34 from Craig Thordarson Scalby slumped to 70 all out in the face of canny bowling from Dave Parkinson, 5-38.
