Folkton & Flixton bag back-to-back wins and move step closer to Lord's return

Folkton & Flixton CC enjoyed a hugely successful weekend - beating Welton to move second in York Senior League East Division One before seeing off Sessay to progress in the National Village Cup.

Tom Norman was the star man with the ball for Flixton after Welton decided to bat first on Saturday, the slow bowler bagging 4-27 as the visitors fell to 177 all out.

Skipper Harry Walmsley also claimed 3-37, Max Harland 2-17 and Chris Mann 1-41.

Flixton made a solid start to their reply as Edward Hopper made 29, Richard Malthouse 30 and Will Hutchinson 21, before Tom Norman made an unbeaten 53 and skipper Walmsley was not out on 30 alongside him as they cruised to 181-5.

Walmsley’s men travel to Sutton-on-Hull this week looking to maintain their form.

Flixton continued their march towards another trip to Lord’s when they beat Sessay to advance in the National Village Cup on Sunday.

Sessay won the toss and chose to bat, posting 137 all out as captain Walmsley claimed 4-22, Edward Hopper 2-11, Tom Norman 2-28 and Max Harland and Chris Mann both bagged a wicket each too.

Richard Malthouse led the Flixton reply with 59 not out, while Will Hutchinson added 40 and Tom Norman 23 as the hosts cruised to 140-3 in 28.1 overs.

Walmsley’s men move onto the next round of the competition where they meet Edgworth CC of the Greater Manchester League this Sunday.
