Folkton & Flixton move two wins away from dream return to Lord's

Folkton & Flixton moved within two wins of a dream return to Lord’s after sealing a spot in the quarter-finals of the National Village Cup courtesy of a comfortable eight-wicket win over visitors Stocksfield on Sunday.

Skipper Harry Walmsley bagged figures of 4-19, Connor Stephenson and Max Harland both took 2-26 and Chris Mann claimed a wicket as the visitors struggled to 92 all out.

In reply club stalwart Richard Malthouse made 34 before the job was finished off by former skipper Will Norman (21 not out) and current captain Walmsley (14 not out) as Flixton cruised to 93-2 in just 14.4 overs.

Flixton are again on home soil in their last-eight encounter, this time welcoming Carlton Towers.

Twenty-four hours earlier, Folkton & Flixton won by 24 runs against Patrington to stay joint top of the York Senior League Division One East standings.

Flixton batted first and posted 136 all out, Cameron Anderson making a crucial 45.

That total proved to be more than enough as Patrington were then all out for 112 in reply in the the face of superb bowling from Chris Mann (4-29), Max Harland (3-40) and skipper Harry Walmsley (2-31).

Flixton host Cottingham on Saturday as they look to maintain their fine run of form and stay in the hunt for the title.
