Lyth - Ashes win hasn’t sunk in yet
Despite failing to make a contribution with the bat again, the Whitby man was part of the side who dominated the visitors to claim a win by an innings and 78 runs.
Lyth could only make 14 before nicking a Mitchell Starc delivery through to wicketkeeper Peter Nevill - a familiar dismissal for the left-hander in the series to date.
But the Yorkshire opener was delighted to be a part of England’s success.
Lyth said: “To be sat in the changing room eight hours after winning the Ashes in our full whites celebrating with the lads is something I will never forget.
“It’s been a crazy week and it still hasn’t sunk in yet that I’ve been part of an Ashes winning side.
“I’m sure when it does sink in I’ll be extremely honoured and even prouder to be a part of it.
“When we get presented with the urn at the Oval, that’s when it will sink in so I’m looking forward to that.
“It was surreal, even on the field we couldn’t believe what was happening.”
