Malthouse stars as Folkton & Flixton bag back-to-back victories

Folkton & Flixton won a low-scoring contest on the road at Londesborough Park in the York Senior League East One.

The Londesborough skipper won the toss and chose to bowl first and Flixton got away to a solid start as Edward Hopper made 35 and Richard Malthouse 20.

After Malthouse was dismissed Flixton fell from 42-0 to 132 all out in 39.4 overs, skipper Harry Walmsley making 18, Chris Mann 15 and Connor Stephenson 13 as the visitors struggled with the bat.

Scott Hardwick was the main man with the ball for hosts Londesborough, bagging figures of 4-24 while James Beevers and Jack Sowersby took two wickets each as well.

Only three Londesborough batsmen managed to make double figures, James Beevers making 35.

Malthouse was the star man with the ball for the visitors, finishing up with figures of 5-19 from a superb eight-over spell.

Skipper Walmsley bagged 2-4 from 2.2 overs to mop up the Park innings, while opening bowler Connor Stephenson claimed figures of 2-26 as Londesborough Park were all out for just 108 in 28.2 overs, falling 24 runs short.

Walmsley’s men are back on home soil this weekend as they host Welton in their latest East One encounter.

2018 National Village Cup champions Folkton & Flixton eased into the next round of the 2020 competition after a comfortable 10-wicket win at home against Forge Valley.

Valley won the toss and batted first, but were all out for just 36 as Richard Malthouse claimed 3-8.

Flixton then made light work of their chase as they eased to 37-0 in 5.5 overs.

The victors look set to take on Sessay at home in the next round.
