​Neal Jackson sparkles despite Pocklington Cricket Club 1sts loss at North Cave

Neal Jackson’s unbeaten 48 was not enough to stop Pocklington CC slipping to a six-wicket YPLN Division 1 East loss at North Cave.

​Jackson’s defiant innings was the highlights of Pock’s 115 all out in 39.2 overs.

​A couple of Harry Collins wickets early on had Cave in trouble at 34-3, but Dan Daley’s 54no saw them to victory.

Pocklington 2nds also lost out on Saturday, suffering an eight-wicket defeat at Scarcroft in Division 2 Ebor.

​Skipper Dan Croft top-scored with 35 as the visitors slipped to 119 all out, and the hosts knocked the runs off in 12.3 overs.

Yapham romped to a 145-run win in Division 1 East against Middleton & North Dalton.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat, making 214-5 in 50 overs, Tom Jennings striking a magnificent 94 and Rob Boddy a useful 42.

Middleton slumped to 69 all out, Jon Flint taking 4-15 and Paul Van Dijk 6-10.

Yapham 2nds also won, by 99 runs, against New Earswick 2nds at University of York in Division 4 Galtres.

Again Yapham won the toss and elected to bat, making 194-8 in 40 overs, with important contributions of 45 from Tom Kirby and 60 from Joe Moore.

Earswick declined to 95 all out, Mike Newhouse turning in figures of 6-15 off his 10 overs.

On Sunday, two Yorkshire Women and Girls Cricket League The Hundred games were played at Bishop Wilton involving Yapham.

In the first Yapham played a strong Doncaster Town side in a close match, making 106-1 (Becks Lonsdale 29, Alice Bailey 41no). Doncaster knocked them off, reaching 109-1 with nine balls to spare.

In their second game v University of York CC, Yapham made 125-6, with Issie Duckworth scoring 39.

In response the Uni side were skittled out for 63, for a Yapham win by 62 runs

On Thursday, Yapham Under-15 Girls lost by nine wickets to Driffield in the prestigious national ECB T20 competition.

A wonderful innings from captain Mia Aconley (43no off 28 balls) proved in vain as Yapham were all out for 100.

Despite great spells from opening bowlers Molly Gamble and Issie Duckworth, Driff’s opening batter made 52no steered them to victory for the loss of one wicket, taken by the impressive Evie Twigg.
