Scarborough 2nds end season on winning note

Scarborough 2nds won by 99 runs at home to Pickering 2nds to end their York Cricket League division three south season on a high note, while Flixton drew against Goole Town in division one.

Scarborough’s win at North Marine Road earned them a fifth-placed finish but left Pickering in the relegation zone.

Josh Mainprize was their top man with an unbeaten 76 while Joe Padmore made 49 in a total of 186-5.

Dan Ward batted soundly to make 44 not out in reply but Pickering were downed for 87 as Callum Ferrie took 3-6 and Chris Hunter 3-10.

There was a high-pointed game between Goole and Flixton which saw the former earn 26 points and their opponents 20.

Town’s 233 included useful input from Ben Earl with 39, Steven Smith who made 55, Neil Foster with 33 and Mark Spetch who made 26.

For Flixton, Michael Hunter claimed 3-59 and Harry Walmsley had 4-45.

Their side’s reply then reached 222-6 as Stuart Stocks made 41, Anthony Stones 47, Mike Nesfield 48 and Rob Lacey 32no.
