Sumner and Fletcher shine as Pocklington Cricket Club 1sts see off Kirkella

Pocklington Cricket Club 1sts made it back-to-back wins after beating visitors Kirkella in their YPLN Division 1 clash.

After hitting 211, Pock bowled their hosts out for 197. Henry Sumner (4-54) and James Fletcher (34) the stand outs.

Pocklington CC 2nds lost a close game at home against Drax by 11 runs.

The visitors posted 199-8, with Lewis Chaplin taking 3-44 for Pock. In reply Ben Lister (48) top scored as the team fell short on 188-8 but still picked up four points.

Pock 3rds won their local home derby against Melbourne.

After hitting 208-9, Pock then bowled the visitors out for 151. Ian Scott (96) top scoring falling just shy over a century.

Josh Tanikal (4-50) was the pick of the Pock bowlers.

The Pock 4ths were away against Wheldrake 2s and lost against a much stronger side as they were bowled out for 99 chasing 231.

Yapham 1sts claimed a 38-run at home to Hull Zingari 2nds.

Zingari won the toss and elected to field, but Yapham made a very credible 247-7 off 50 overs, Charlie Foster making 73, Paul Van Dijk 53 and Jack Holman 44.

In reply Zingari fell short, making 209 all out, Tom Beattie and Van Dijk taking three wickets apiece.

Yapham 2nds worked hard for a 17-run win at Woodhouse Grange 4ths.

Woodhouse won the toss and elected to field. Yapham then made a sound 249-3 in their 40 overs, aided by 79 from Sam Noble, with extras and dropped catches playing a big hand.

In response Woodhouse made a flattering 232-9, aided again by a series of dropped catches.

Their stand out player was Max Wilson, who made a brilliant 92, Chris Roper took 4-29 off seven overs.

In the East Yorkshire Womens and Girls League, Yapham lost the toss at Hessle and were put into bat on a pitch and in conditions that strongly favoured the bowlers.

Alice Johnson (65no) and Alice Bailey (43, personal top score) dug in for a steady 117 opening partnership.

Set 159 as the target off 30 overs, and hoping it would be enough with only nine players versus Hessle’s 11, Yapham then skittled Hessle for 65 thanks to spectacular bowling from the Overfield twins, Kat Young (3-10) and in particular Issie Duckworth (4-12).
