'We can't wait to return to Scarborough' - insists Yorkshire's Adam Lyth

Yorkshire's Adam Lyth has insisted everyone connected with the club can't wait to return to Scarborough in 2021 after the coronavirus pandemic wiped out a potentially lucrative 2020 summer schedule at North Marine Road.

Yorkshire were all set to take on Roses rivals Lancashire and Warwickshire in the Specsavers County Championship at North Marine Road this summer, with Warwickshire set to return in Royal London One Day cup action, along with another limited overs encounter against Nottinghamshire rounding off a potentially lucrative 2020 schedule.

The coronavirus pandemic put all those plans on the back foot, with first class cricket only set to return in August.

Lyth admits he was gutted not to come to North Marine Road this summer.

"I was gutted, we were all looking forward to the Roses match and the others at Scarborough this summer, as we always do," said Lyth.

"Everyone at Yorkshire loves going to play at Scarborough and I'm sure there would have been huge crowds in again, especially for the Lancashire match.

"There's no better place to play cricket when the stands are full at Scarborough and hopefully we can get back there next year and the fixture schedule will be kind to them.

"We can't wait to get back to playing regular cricket, and of course can't wait to come back to Scarborough too."
