YORK LEAGUE: Flixton see off Sessay

Flixton claimed a four-wicket Bank Holiday Monday win at Sessay in their York League division one clash, while Scarborough 2nds stumbled to a 78-run loss at Yapham in division three south.

Sessay’s promotion aspirations took a knock with this loss at home to Flixton, which dropped them from second to third place.

Liam Carver top-scored for Sessay with 42 while D Easton added 29 as spinner Chris Mann claimed 4-31.

Chasing a total of 187, five Flixton batsmen produced the goods to gain a victory despite Carver’s 3-37.

Early runs were provided by Neil Elvidge with 33, Richard Malthouse 38 and Rob Lacey with 33 before the cake was iced by Jamie Nesfield with 47 not out and Stuart Stocks, who was undefeated with 30.

Martin Pearson hit 70 to set up a Yapham win over Scarborough 2nds, who were all out for 72 when chasing the home side’s 150-9.

Stuart Wainwright also had a good game for the winners in making 27no and then pocketing 3-3.

For Scarborough, Matty Kay had 3-36 and Sam Carver 4-30 while John Flint took 3-23 for Yapham.

Monday’s Yorkshire League game between Sheffield Collegiate and Scarborough was washed out with a ball being bowled.
