New signing Lewis Turner went straight into the starting 11 in the place of the suspended Kieran Glynn and Boro led early doors thanks to Nathan Cartman's third minute strike.

Boro doubled their advantage 22 minutes into the contest, left wing-back Ashley Jackson teeing up Barrett to find the back of the net.

Turner let fly from long range to try and register a debut goal, but his strike flew over the bar.

Boro were 3-0 up before the break when neat build up play resulted in Barrett firing in his second.

James Cadman and Ryan Blott were introduced during a fairly uneventful second half as Boro saw the game out to seal the points.

Boro are without a fixture on Saturday and will await Buxton's FA Cup result to see if they make the trip to take on the big spenders next Tuesday night.

BORO: Whitley, Turner, Cogill, Gooda, Coates, Thornton, Barrett, Bishop, Cartman, Watson, Jackson. Subs: Blott, Cadman. Not used: Hodgson, Brown.
