Beadle back for Town trip

Scarborough Athletic will welcome Jimmy Beadle back into the fold tonight when they take the Evo-Stik North trip to Ossett Town.

Beadle was banned for four matches by the FA for comments made on social media, forcing him to miss the league games against Brighouse and Prescot, as well as the FA Cup ties against North Shields.

His return is a boost to boss Rudy Funk, who looks set to be without defender Steve Ridley.

Funk said: “Jimmy is back in the squad tonight, which is great news because he started the season well and Steve is also struggling with a hamstring injury.

Jordan Thewlis felt his hamstring on Saturday as well, which is why he didn’t start the game. Safety has to come first because we don’t want to be losing players for a long time.

“We do have a big, strong and fit squad though, who all want to be playing football.

“The only headache I have is the fact that I can’t pick all of them. They have all bought into what we are trying to do though, they all know their chance will come.”

Funk is expecting a tough game tonight when his side come up against an Ossett side managed by former Boro coach John Reed.

He added: “Ossett Town have been in the league for a long time. Maybe they haven’t had the best start, but they will look at our good results and I know they will be up for it.

“We have to go there, prepare in the same way and show the same attitude that we have been doing. If we do that then I’m confident we will be okay.”
