Hinderwell’s Beth Mead admits she can’t wait to get back into action after a lengthy spell without playing.

Mead and her Arsenal teammates fly out to Spain this week as they wrap up preparations for their Champions League quarter-final clash with PSG.

Arsenal take on the French giants at the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastien on Saturday.

“We know PSG are a great team and we have our work cut out,” said Mead.

“We’re obviously doing our homework on them but we are also looking forward to the challenge.

“The Champions League is the ultimate cup to win, and it would be a complete dream come true to do just that.”

The Hinderwell hot-shot has been out of action for around six months due to a mixture of an injury and the following coronavirus pandemic, but insists she is feeling good after getting back into training.

“I was so excited to be able to train and kick a ball again,” she added.

“Obviously with being injured and then having the lockdown, it’s been nearly six months of no football for me, so it’s safe to say I missed it a lot.

“I’m feeling good, getting my fitness back and feeling good on the ball again.”

The Gunners have won all three of their friendlies so far as they build up to the meeting with PSG, and Mead admits confidence is high and competition for a starting berth is intense.

She added: “Preparation has been really good, we’ve played three friendlies and won them all, we are playing some good football and getting back into the swing of things.

“I’m working hard as I can, there’s a lot of competition in the team but it’s healthy and making us all better.”
