Blott’s explosive finish to last season pushed his tally on to a remarkable 220 goals in 303 starts, and after committing to the club he is hungry for more.

He said: “I decided to stay on because I just felt that I have unfinished business at Scarborough Athletic.

“Paul Foot and Bryan Hughes only had half a season in charge, so I want to see what we can do in a full season.

“With teams like Darlington and Salford out of the way, I think it will be a very open division, so why can’t we have a crack at it?

“We have a good platform to build on from last season, we needed a couple of additions and they have been brought in.

“Obviously the dream is to get promoted and then return to Scarborough the season after, which would be ideal.

“I think we have a chance and I can’t wait to get going.”

Blott had a mixed time in Boro’s previous campaign and he has admitted that he fell out of love with the game during a winter of discontent.

“I just wasn’t enjoying my football, I can’t put my finger on why,” he added.

“It wasn’t down to the competition for places or anything like that because I just concentrate on what I’m doing, which is hopefully scoring goals.

“I got going again after that bad spell and just hit a bit of form, my enjoyment returned and the rest is history.

“I’ve got a target or two for next season, the main one being scoring goals.

“I want to reach 20 again and then take it from there. If I can score more than that and we are challenging then I’ll be happy.”
