Boro pile pressure on Hughes and Foot

Scarborough Athletic joint-bosses Paul Foot and Bryan Hughes were left clinging to their jobs on Saturday after another dismal result.

Boro’s horrendous run of form continued when they lost 4-2 at home to lowly Droylsden.

On the day, Boro lacked the guts and the fight for the battle, and the performance of the players left the axe hovering above the heads of Foot and the absent Hughes, who returns from work in America over the weekend.

Chairman Dave Holland maintained his backing of the pair, but underlined they will have to pull something out of the bag if they are to continue in their roles.

Holland said: “Of course we are hurting. I’ve gone public before saying that we support the managers, I still support them, but things have to change.

“Bryan gets back from America over the next couple of days. I’m going to let him have a chat with Paul and we’ll see how we take things from there.

“Whether that will be sufficient, we’ll decide after that. I personally hope things work out.”
