Boro sign up keeper White

Scarborough Athletic have snapped up keeper Ben White from Barton Town Old Boys.

The stopper, who previously had a spell at York City and on loan at North Ferriby, will join Rory Skelton as the club’s only recognised keepers following the end of Joe Cracknell’s loan.

Joint-boss Paul Foot is expecting big things from White, who stands well over six feet tall.

He said: “Ben was at York City with Ben Middleton and I first saw him when he came on loan to North Ferriby.

“He is a very good keeper, who will come in and fight for that number one jersey.

“After the departure of Jason White midway through last season, we didn’t have a keeper committed to the club. We were constantly waiting for Joe Cracknell’s loan to be extended.

“Ben is a keeper that has committed to this club full time.”

Boro are still waiting to see what happens with Cracknell after he was released by Hull City at the beginning of the summer.

Foot added: “The door is open here for Joe. Everyone to do with this club wants him here, but everyone also wants the best for him.”
