Boss Hughes calls for more of the same against Radcliffe

Boro showed their battling qualities when they drew 0-0 at play-off rivals Bamber Bridge on Saturday, but all that will be wasted if they slip up against lowly Radcliffe.

Midfielder Pete Davidson is an early doubt after he went off at Bamber Bridge with a rib injury.

Some positive news for Boro is that striker Gary Bradshaw came on for a late cameo on Saturday, and he may be available to start this weekend.

This comes as a boost to Boro, who haven’t scored in 180 minutes of football.

Hughes said: “We are not concerned by the fact that we haven’t scored in two games because we know what we can do when we go forward.

“We have missed Gary, but his absence isn’t the reason that we haven’t scored because we have other lads out there who are very capable.

“We had plenty of good chances at Bamber Bridge, but it just wouldn’t roll for us.

“The Radcliffe game is another big one. It is one that people think we should just have to turn up to win.

“That certainly won’t be the case because they have a new manager in place and they recently picked up their first win in a while.

“We just need to keep going with what we are doing, it is important that we produce another performance.

“There is no pressure on the lads, they just need to go out and enjoy their football.

“We are a different animal on the road at the moment because we have shown the mental strength needed to record a result.

“At home a lot of teams have come down and tried to stop us playing.

“We have to show the appetite to break teams down and pick up the points.”
