The pacy striker has agreed to sign for the Queensgate club, having played for NPL North West Division club Pickering Town last season.

Agnew said: “I am delighted to get this signing done as I have been keeping tabs on Danny since he played for Hall Road against us last year as he really caught my eye with his performance that day. He had a lot of offers from other teams so it is a great signing for us.

“He is very rapid and a direct forward, which is something we have been missing here since before I first came to play for Bridlington Town.

“I think this is a great sign for us to be able to bring in someone from a higher level, it shows the direction which we want to go in and his experience will help us.”

Agnew is also chasing a couple more new signings, who came along to Town’s first training session of the summer on Saturday.

He said: “A couple of lads came down on Saturday and with the current situation with Covid and the uncertainty over when the league will start, they are going to take their time about deciding on where they will be going, which is perfectly understandable.

“Rather than an official start of pre-season it was more of a chance for the lads and me, Ant Bowsley and Joe Lamplough to get together and talk about our plans for next season as well as some fitness and ball-work.

“To get 14 lads down there was an excellent turn-out, we adhered to all the social distancing rules in place due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

“I am still hoping that we can get the NCEL Premier Division season going in late August or early September.”
