Cracknell could make Boro return

Keeper Joe Cracknell could return between the Scarborough Athletic sticks in pre-season.

Cracknell has been looking for a Football League club since his release from Hull City at the end of the previous campaign.

Joint-boss Bryan Hughes has been in constant dialogue with the stopper, not only to help him in his quest to find a club, but also to offer him options should things not materialise.

Hughes said: “Joe has been looking for a Football League club since he left Hull and we’ve been doing our best to help him get that move.

“We have said though that if he needs a team to train with during pre-season then he would be more than welcome to come down with us and he told me that he’d be up for that.

“Also we could give him some game-time if nothing is tied up by the time the pre-season matches start.

“It is something that happened with Lewis Clarkson when he left Hull, we have shown that we can nurture players back into the Football League.

“Lewis started the pre-season with us and then went on trial at Barnsley and Wolves.

“He then came back, got game-time, scored goals and ended up with his move to Bradford City.”
