DARREN KELLY: Delighted to welcome David to Scarborough Athletic

I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to bring David Lynch on board as our new head of recruitment.

It’s a role that I have always been keen to have in clubs I have worked at and it was something that worked well in my time at Hyde United.

David was recommended to me by a good friend of mine who works at Blackburn Rovers and we hit it off in the meetings we’ve had.

It’ll be a big boost to us off the pitch and just makes things a little more professional.

David will be able to help us in terms of looking at potential signings and also scouting opposition going forward too.

I was very, very pleased with our 2-1 win against Matlock Town on Saturday.

The first half in particular was outstanding and if we can replicate that form for the entire 90 minutes going forward, not many teams in this league will be able to live with us.

We weren’t quite at it in the second half and they creeped back into it, but we remained solid defensively and held on to take the three points.

I have been impressed with the new additions too.

Kieran Glynn trained for the first time on Thursday and put in an impressive performance and I’m thrilled to have him at the club.

Harry Spratt only met the players for the first time before the game on Saturday and slotted straight in and played well.

Having Blotty (Ryan Blott) in the group is going to be a huge benefit for us and once he gets his fitness levels up I’m sure he’ll be a great asset to the group.

I wanted to get Jacob Gratton out there and give him the minutes and experience, but the game ended up pretty tight.

Going forward I’m sure he’ll get in on the action and I’m sure he’ll be a good addition to the squad.

We now work towards a tricky trip to Stafford on Saturday.

Stafford are fighting for their lives and will be giving it their all to pick up a much-needed three points and it’s up to us to make sure we get on the front foot and dominate the game.

Kian Spence is training on his own as he builds up towards a return to action in a couple of weeks, but other than him we should be at full strength for Saturday.
